Seit einigen Jahren gibt es in den Niederlanden jährlich ein Designwettbewerb zur Gestaltung der Dutch Geocoin. Jeder ist aufgerufen eine oder mehrere Geocoin Designs einzureichen, von denen am Ende ein Entwurf ausgewählt und produziert wird. 
Auch im Jahr 2017 gab es viele Entwürfe, wobei sich der Geocoin Designentwurf von 2windstreken gegenüber den anderen eingereichten Entwürfen durchgesetzt hat. Der Entwurf von 2windstreken lehnt sich an der Niederländischen Künstlergruppe "'''[https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Stijl De Stijl]'''" an, welches vor 100 Jahre gegründet worden ist. Einer der bekanntesten Vertreter der Gruppe ist der Niederländische Maler "'''[https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piet_Mondrian Piet Mondrian]'''". Die Arbeiten der Gruppe wird dem Stil Neo-Plastizismus zugeordnet. 
Die Geocoin zeigt auf der Vorderseite den Ausschnitt der Niederländischen Landkarte mit dem Schriftzug "Dutch Geocoin 2017". Die Rückseite zeigt ein Art Gemälde in Anlegung an den Malers "'''[https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piet_Mondrian Piet Mondrian]'''" welches gleichzeitig die Hauptidee zu dem Entwurf der Coin bildete.

Since several years there is an annual design competition for the configuration of the new annaul Dutch Geocoin. Everyone can submit one or more drafts of which one will be chosen and minted. 
There were several drafts submitted in 2017. In the end the draft of 2windstreken made it. Their idea for the design was based on the neoplasticism paintings of the Dutch artistic movement "'''[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Stijl De Stijl]'''". The coin commemorates their 100th year of founding. One of the well-known artists of this group was the Dutch painter "'''[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piet_Mondrian Piet Mondrian]'''". 
The obverse side of the coin shows a cut-out of the map of the Netherland. Across the map the lettering „Dutch Geocoin 2017“ is shown. The reverse shows a sort of neoplasticism styled painting, based on the style of Piet Mondrian.
