WI_Robin, ein von 2005 bis 2008 aktiver Cacher aus Wisconsin im Mittleren Westen der USA, der schon erste Erfahrungen in der Coingestaltung/Herausgabe (CITO Geocoin 2007 und CITO Around The World Geocoin) gesammelt hatte, stellte am 13. Juni 2007 im Geocaching-Forum den zweiten Entwurf seiner geplanten Personalcoin vor, die von Georgia und Sharon vom nicht mehr existierenden online-Shop "The Caching Place" gestaltet wurde. Ziel der Information war, festzustellen, wie viele Geocoins gemünzt werden sollen. Die Coins in 3D, 44 x 50 x 3,5 mm groß, sollten in Antik Gold, Antik Silber und Kupfer, hart durchscheinend in Epoxy gefertigt werden. Neben der zu damaliger Zeit noch außergewöhnlichen Form (die des Bundesstaats Wisconsin) kam eine zweite Besonderheit hinzu: Die Geocoin sollte mit einem extra trackbaren, 28 x 22 x 3 mm großen Mikro-"Robin-Ei", ebenfalls in drei unterschiedlichen Editionen kombiniert werden.

Eine Woche später schrieb WI_Robin einen Wettbewerb zur Gestaltung des Coin-Icons aus. Als Preise wurden ein XLE-Set, ein Kupfer-LE-Set mit Glitzer und ein komplettes reguläres Set (Antik Silber und Antik Gold) angekündigt. Ein Rotkehlchen sollte aber im Icon sein.

Erneut eine Woche später gab es erste Informationen über geplante Stückzahlen. So sollte es von der Antik Kupfer/ Glitzer-Coin nur 50 Stück geben, die in einem 3er-Set zu bekommen sein sollten. Weiterhin waren REs (je 25 antik Gold und antik Silber) zum Handel gedacht und eine XLE30-Serie (Glitzer-Gold) gegen seltenere Coins zum Tausch bestimmt.

Am 26. Juni 2007 wurde der Gewinner des Iconwettbewerbes bekannt: Tokencollector. Auch die Nicknamen der folgenden 3 Teilnehmer, die einen Preis erhalten würden, gab es zu lesen.

Am 29. Juni gab WI_Robin die endgültigen RE-Stückzahlen bekannt: Je 100 in Antik Silber und Antik Gold.

Auch beschrieb er den Herstellungsprozess mit der 3D-Gestaltung unter dem lichtdurchlässigen, farbigen harten Epoxy als sehr kompliziert. Jede Farbe wird in einem separaten Prozess eingebrannt und es kommt zu einem hohen Bruch. Deshalb mussten die Geocoins dicker produziert werden.

Sechs Wochen später gab es die Information, dass der Verkauf über den online-Shop "The Caching Place" ab Mitte September erfolgen soll und nur ein Teil der schon bestellten Coins von WI_Robin versendet werden. Ursache dafür war wohl ein Finanzierungsproblem.

Mit dem Erhalt der bestellten Coins trat teilweise ein nicht vorhergesehenes Problem auf: Für einige der Coins konnte kein Aktivierungscode geliefert werden. Ursache war eine nicht erklärbare Veränderung der gelieferten Codedatendatei in der Münzstätte. So gab es doppelte Trackingcodes und sogar welche mit 7 Stellen. Um diese Probleme zu beheben, wurde von "The Caching Place" eine Rückrufaktion gestartet, um die Geocoins durch neu gefertigte auszutauschen. Ende Oktober 2007 war dann die neue Serie erhältlich. Während die zuerst gefertigten Geocoins das Präfix WI hatten, sind die neu gefertigten am Präfix WR erkennbar.

Ergänzung zu der Auflage: da es laut der Trackables-Seite auf geocaching.com exakt 1120 Einträge zu dem Icon gibt, ist es sehr wahrscheinlich, dass es die RE Gold und die RE Silver jeweils 250 Mal gibt (1000) und die LE Copper 60 Mal jeweils (120) - somit nehme ich diese Auflage an und setze sie in die Tabelle ein!
