Contained within the largest star is an image of Robert Burns.
The reverse side shows an embossed, silverised image of the poet.
The text 'But brightly beams aboon them a' is inscribed round the edge of the coin.
There is a star whose beaming ray
is shed on ev'ry clime.
It shines by night, it shines by day
And ne'er grows dim wi' time.
It rose upon the banks of Ayr,
