The Raven Geocoin wurde zu Ehren des 200. Geburtstag des berühmten Schriftstellers und Meisters der Horrorgeschichten des Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) erstellt.
Edgar Allan Poe prägte die Genres der Horrorgeschichte, der Kriminalliteratur und der Science Fiction.
Auf der Vorderseite des Geocoins befindet sich eine sehr detailgetreue Darstellung eines Raben - anlehnend an sein wohl berühmtestes Werk "The Raven".
"The Raven" ist eines der bekanntesten amerikanischen Gedichten. Veröffentlicht wurde es erstmals 1845 in einer New Yorker Zeitung.
Es handelt von einem mitternächtlichen Besuch eines Raben bei einem verzweifelten Liebenden.
