2009 ist das fünfte Erscheinungsjahr des offiziellen Compass Rose Geocoin. Die Geocoin feiert dieses Jubiläum, indem sie alle vorhergehenden Designelementen, der letzten Fünf Jahren, in eine Geocoin vereint.
Als extra Zugabe enthält sie, als erster Geocoin überhaupt, ein funktionierendes Magnetkompass. Jede Coin ist einen bestimmten Bereich der navigatorischen Errungenschaften gewidmet.
Eine Black Nickel Geocoin wurde hinzugefügt zur Repräsentation des Schwarzen Meeres.
Dies ist das erste Jahr, wo das Design der Compass Rose Geocoin auf keinem existierenden Navigationskompass basiert.
Stattdessen zeigt die Vorderseite der Coin eine Mischung aus den letzten fünf Compass Rose Geocoin-Designs.
