This is what designer Chris Mackey is saying about this con himself:

On the design, it was inspired by a caching friend who finds caches with almost super-natural ease. I had a small disguised cache stolen by a squirrel and before I could replace it, this cacher found the hiding spot, tracked the squirrel to a nearby tree and searched in the lower branches to find it in mere minutes. Some cachers are just crazy good - lol. The face side of the coin has a few different inspirations. I'm a huge fan of steampunk artwork with the cross over of mechanical precision with flowing, curving floral carved elements merged in. I wanted to show an eye that was a combination or organic shape with the precision of a 35mm camera shutter. The Clockwork Orange style black gear under the eye is a nod at the prevailing theme in the movie of people seeing beyond the facade of the world to see beyond and notice all the hidden things right there in front of us for those who care to look. The Reverse side of the coin is a classic eagle profile common to heraldry mixed with an old wood-press letter style to match the styling. Few people ever notice that there is a die-cut slit under the text "Eagle Eyed" where you can insert a silk ribbon to wear the coin as a pendant or charm. The idea was a good luck trackable that would instill confidence in looking beyond the obvious to spot the cache. The arrows in the background are a nod at the expression "straight as an arrow to its mark" to express the sort of speed some cachers can spot the not so obvious to the rest of us.
