Die Alchemist's Glass Geocoin ist eine durch Fredrik Wellner entworfene und handgefertigte Coin. Die Grundlage für diese glass-metal Verbindung ist ein metallischer Coinrohling. Der Coinrohling ist auf der Vorderseite mit einem Formgrat versehen, welches die Aufnahme der Schmelze ermöglicht. Mit Hilfe einer kleinen Glasschmelzofen werden die Ausgangstoffe des Glasses geschmolzen. Aus der Schmelze entstehen dann die Glaskuppeln, welche im Anschluss mit den Rohlingen zusammengefügt werden. Erste Versuche waren nicht erfolgreich. Aber nach einigen Versuche gelang es Fredrik Wellner schließlich, diese unterschiedlichste Stoffe miteinander zu verbinden. Obwohl die Coins in verschiedene Editionen eingeteilt sind, so besticht jede Coin auf seine Weise und ist ein Unikate. Insbesondere, weil das Ergebnis der Glasherstellung schwer reproduzierbar und jede Coin handgefertigt ist.

The Alchemist's Glass Geocoin is a handmade coin designed and minted by Fredrik Wellner. The coin exist of a metallic basis and a glass bulb. With exception of the metallic basis for the coin everything of this glass-metallic coin-alloy is handmade. The basis is a metallic coin blank with a mold parting line for the glass bulb on top. By dint of a small glass kiln, the raw glass materials were molted, cast to glass bulbs and attached to the metallic coin blanks. First attempts did not really worked out, but learning from these mistakes, Fredrik Wellner finally managed to merge everything together. Due to the fact, that glass is an unpredictable raw material and because of the manual production, all coins got their own individual touch.
